The collaboration between Preben Fabricius and Jørgen Kastholm was a true creative symbiosis in which they worked completely together, designing side by side until individual authorship was diluted and common solutions were reached through dialogue and continuous adjustment; their success was based on the complementarity of their backgrounds - Fabricius as cabinetmaker and Kastholm as blacksmith - which allowed them to combine wood and metal with great balance, always under the same minimalist, functional and timeless design philosophy where form follows function, achieving in a few years (mainly between 1961 and 1968) a coherent and highly influential production that is still today considered iconic within modern Danish design.
The table in tender is characterized by a very architectural, minimalist and visually light design, where a rectangular top seems to "float" on a very thin chromed steel structure; it incorporates a suspended side module with drawers (on the left) and a cross bar that reinforces the structure, creating a balance between functionality and formal purity, and playing with small spaces between the elements to accentuate that feeling of lightness, all within the typical language of the duo: clean lines, industrial materials and an elegant and rational aesthetic typical of modern Danish design.
