This stool is a representative example of the modern language developed by Joaquim Tenreiro, considered one of the pioneers of modern furniture in Brazil. The piece combines a light metal structure, with fine and refined lines, with a visually rich wooden seat, characterized by an elegant work of slats arranged in alternating strips.

The design stands out for its balance between structural lightness and formal expressiveness. The curvature of the seat, together with the central opening, provides a sculptural and organic character that contrasts with the geometric sobriety of the metal legs. This duality between rationality and material sensuality is a constant in Tenreiro's work.

The use of carefully selected woods and the attention to handcrafted detail reflect the designer's desire to integrate tradition and modernity, as well as his interest in ergonomics and comfort without sacrificing aesthetics.

Joaquim Tenreiro was a key figure in the consolidation of modern Brazilian design. Initially trained as a cabinetmaker, he developed a deep understanding of wood as an expressive material. Beginning in the 1940s, his work became aligned with the principles of modernism, incorporating European influences adapted to the Brazilian context.

His production is characterized by visual lightness, constructive precision and a unique sensitivity towards materials, positioning him as one of the great references of 20th century Latin American design.
