The Chester Moon sofa is one of Baxter's most recognizable pieces and one of the most successful contemporary reinterpretations of the classic Chesterfield. Designed by Paola Navone, it transforms the traditional English model into a piece of great sculptural presence, lower, enveloping and rounded, where the quilting ceases to be a mere ornamental resource to become the real visual structure of the sofa. The upholstery extends continuously across the seat, backrest, armrests and exterior, allowing it to be placed free-standing in the center of a room and appreciated from all angles. Baxter emphasizes the technical complexity of this work, handmade with special attention to each button and fold of the leather, in a manufacture that combines artisanal memory and contemporary design.
The company describes its Kashmir leather as full grain bull leather, with mixed chrome and vegetable tanning. This finish gives the sofa a particularly attractive quality: light glides over the upholstery creating variations in tone, shadows and volume, reinforcing the feeling of comfort and casual luxury.

Founded in 1990 in Lurago d'Erba, in the Italian district of Brianza, Baxter has established itself as one of the great international names in high-end Italian furniture, with an identity closely linked to the excellence of leather, craftsmanship and signature design. Its sofas, armchairs and upholstered pieces are valued for the quality of their leathers, the richness of their finishes and an aesthetic that combines manufacturing tradition, contemporary sophistication and a strong emotional charge.
Paola Navone, an architect and designer trained at the Politecnico di Torino, is a key figure in contemporary Italian design. Linked since her beginnings to radical design and to the Alchimia group together with Alessandro Mendini and Ettore Sottsass, she has developed an international career marked by formal freedom, cultural mix and a very personal sensitivity towards materials, scale and color. He has collaborated with firms such as Alessi, Knoll, Cappellini, Gervasoni, Roche Bobois and Baxter, and in 1983 received the Osaka International Design Award. In the Chester Moon, Navone condenses much of his language: respect for tradition, an experimental eye and a singular ability to turn a historical archetype into a contemporary domestic icon.
