In the chair presented for bidding, close to Boris Tabacoff's creations, the influence of Space Age aesthetics is clearly perceived. Comfortable and refined, its design articulates an organic silhouette that contrasts with a geometric base of taut lines. The ensemble stands out for its visual lightness and the combination of industrial materials, evoking the spirit of the French productions of the 1970s.

Boris Tabacoff was a designer of Bulgarian origin linked to the École de Paris in the post-war period, and one of the first creators to explore the use of plexiglass in furniture and design objects. His work is closely associated with the editions made for Pierre Cardin, for whom he developed innovative pieces in this material, within an avant-garde and experimental aesthetic. During the 1960s and 1970s, his production reached wide circulation in art and design magazines, largely thanks to the impulse of Cardin, who promoted the use of Plexiglas in a varied typology of objects, from bathtubs, chairs and tables to exclusive clocks and desks. The author of singular designs with a strong personality, Tabacoff signed pieces such as the Table Menorah I and II, the Table Forest, the Spider Armchair or the Roman Armchair, which reflect his interest in sculptural forms and the expressive possibilities of industrial materials.
