DESCRIPTION
TOBIA SCARPA (Venice, 1935) for B & B Italia, Mobilplast edition (Spain).
Three-seater "Coronado" sofa, 1966.
Upholstered in original black leather.
In very good condition.
Measurements: 90 x 245 x 88 cm.
Three seater sofa model "Coronado", designed by Tobia Scarpa for B&B in 1966 and made in Spain by Mobilplast under license and specifications of the Italian firm. This is an authentic vintage edition, contemporary to the original launch of the model in Italy.
The "Coronado" reinterprets the classic English club sofa and Chesterfield from a modern sensibility, with generous, rounded shapes and a plush appearance. Upholstered in original black leather, it is distinguished by cushions that are visually integrated into the structure and by a subtle capitonné that reinforces its comfortable and sophisticated character.
Tobia Scarpa studied at the Faculty of Architecture in Venice, where he graduated in 1969, although since the late 1950s he had been collaborating with Afra Bianchin, with whom he developed an outstanding joint career in architecture and design. Both worked for firms such as Flos, Cassina, B&B Italia and Gavina, among others, and carried out important projects in Europe and the United States. Scarpa has received numerous awards, including the Compasso d'Oro ADI, and his works are part of important international collections, such as that of the MoMA in New York.
