The "Reverse" chair is a piece of great formal singularity within the contemporary Italian design. Its structure combines a circular wooden seat with metal legs and a large curved wooden enveloping element, which functions simultaneously as backrest, arms and visual support of the composition.
The design stands out for its experimental and almost object-like character, where the chair is built from a tension between technical lightness and sculptural gesture. The curved wood generates an open and dynamic silhouette, while the metal structure introduces precision and lightness, reinforcing the contrast between warm materiality and industrial solution.
Andrea Branzi, architect and designer, graduated in Florence in 1967. From 1964 to 1974 he was a partner of Archizoom, and one of the most respected voices of the radical architecture movement. A prominent member of the Alchimia studio, from 1981 he participated in the experience of the Memphis group. In 1983 he was one of the founders of the Domus Academy in Milan, the first international school specializing in industrial design, design management and fashion. In 1994 he received the ADI Compasso d'Oro Lifetime Achievement Award.
