DESCRIPTION
Brutalist counter. Germany, 1980s.
Patinated metal and textured glass top.
Condition: 7/10.
Measurements: 92 x 130 x 55 cm.
Singular German counter of brutalist aesthetics made in the 1980s, of marked architectural presence and sculptural character. The piece combines a patinated metal structure, with a sober and industrial finish, with a textured glass top that introduces an interesting contrast between opacity, transparency and matter.
The front is articulated by geometric panels decorated with circular reliefs, while the side legs have an open structure with curved elements, adding dynamism to a set of rounded appearance. The rear part incorporates an interior work surface, reinforcing its functionality as a counter or auxiliary display unit.
Because of its forceful language, its direct materiality and its almost architectural composition, it is a singular piece of European design of the eighties, close to the brutalist taste for expressive forms, material finishes and monumental presence.
