In the context of Dutch modernism of the early 1960s, some pieces were conceived as authentic architectural manifestos. This steel and wenge bench is fully in line with this style, now complemented by its period cushions. Specifically commissioned by an architect in the early 1960s, it has remained in the same family ever since. Its minimalist structure in brushed steel traces a taut, almost graphic line that supports a base of wide solid wenge slats. The original black leather cushions add comfort and depth, while respecting the modernist spirit. The ensemble clearly evokes the rational aesthetic developed by Kho Liang Le: balance of proportions, honesty of materials and dialogue between industrial rigidity and the warmth of wood.
The wenge has a rich and homogeneous patina. The steel remains clean and stable. The leather cushions are vintage and in perfect condition.
