The furniture in bidding can be related to the designers Jordi Casablancas and Joaquín Belsa for its clear affinity with the postmodern Spanish design language developed in Barcelona during the 80s. The combination of simple geometric lines, flat colors -such as the olive green of the drawers- and playful elements, such as the oversized circular handles, refers directly to the aesthetic universe promoted by both designers.
Jordi Casablancas and Joaquín Belsa were part of a generation that reinterpreted rationalism from a more emotional and graphic point of view, close to the Memphis movement and the Mediterranean design of the time. In this console we can perceive this desire to turn a functional object into a piece with a marked visual identity, through the use of essential volumes, chromatic hallmarks and a composition with an almost architectural appearance.
In addition, the open and robust structure in natural wood, combined with carefully integrated color details, reflects that search for balance between functionality, irony and material sophistication characteristic of many Catalan designs of the late twentieth century.
