DESCRIPTION
Sofa modeled after "The Tired Man" by FLEMMING LASSEN (1902 - 1984), 1940s - 1950s.
Sheepskin upholstery. Newly reupholstered.
Danish sofa made circa 1940s-1950s in the Danish Modern tradition. With enveloping lines and organic forms, it presents a sculptural silhouette with a high back and curved arms that evoke the biomorphic language developed by Flemming Lassen in some of his most emblematic designs. Its aesthetics and conception are particularly in dialogue with "The Tired Man Lounge", the famous armchair presented by Lassen at the 1935 Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition, which has since become an icon of Danish design and is considered a true "epitome of craftsmanship and comfort".
Like that model, the bidding sofa conveys a sense of absolute shelter and comfort, described by Lassen himself as "as warm and comfortable as a polar bear cub in its mother's arms." Upholstered in sheepskin, it stands out for its generous and cozy volumes.
