The LC1 armchair is one of the most emblematic pieces of modern furniture of the twentieth century. Designed by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand in 1928, it responds to the rationalist ideal of a light, functional and refined structure, in which each element fulfills a precise function. The combination of chromed metal tubing, leather and leather synthesizes the desire to unite industry, comfort and formal elegance.
The piece stands out for its taut backrest and seat, which adapt to the body and reinforce the idea of the "sitting machine" advocated by Le Corbusier. The Cassina edition, signed and numbered, guarantees its link to the authorized production of the great designs of the modern movement.
Le Corbusier, a key figure in modern architecture, developed with his cousin Pierre Jeanneret and designer Charlotte Perriand a new language of furniture in keeping with contemporary living. This collaboration gave rise to some of the most influential pieces of 20th century design, characterized by the synthesis of functionality, technique and aesthetics. Today, her creations are part of major international museum collections and continue to be published by Cassina under official license.
