Armchair designed by Yuzuru Yamakawa in the 1980s, made with a light metal structure and braided rattan surfaces. Its silhouette is open and enveloping, with an organically shaped backrest and a raised headrest that accentuates its sculptural presence without sacrificing a remarkable visual lightness.

The herringbone rattan weave adds texture and a refined sense of craftsmanship, while the metal frame introduces a note of modernity and graphic tension. The design combines comfort, transparency and balance, reflecting Yamakawa's ability to update the Japanese rattan tradition from a thoroughly contemporary sensibility.

Yuzuru Yamakawa was a key figure in Japanese rattan design. Linked to Yamakawa Rattan, a firm founded in Tokyo in 1952, for more than forty years he developed a language based on structural lightness, ergonomics and mastery of weaving. His designs fuse Japanese linear elegance with traditional Indonesian weaving techniques, contributing to a new appreciation of rattan in modern international furniture.
