BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

VENINI. Italy, 1960s.
Pendant lamp "Infinity".
Blown Murano glass tubes.
Working. Original vintage piece. It shows signs of wear according to its age and use.
Measurements: 40 x 26 x 26 cm.

Exceptional pendant lamp composed of hand-blown Murano glass tubes in "infinity" section -double lobe- hanging from a lacquered metal crown, produced by Venini during the 60s.

The glass tubes have the characteristic "corteccia" texture - tree bark - with an irregular surface that captures and disperses light in a unique way, generating a play of reflections and transparencies of extraordinary beauty.

Venini, the historic Murano firm founded in 1921, was during the 1960s the most influential artistic glass laboratory in Europe, and its lighting pieces are today the subject of top-level international collecting. The firm played a leading role in the renewal of the post-war Italian glass industry, combining modernist designers with craftsmen of exceptional skill.
