“D-2057 Saturn” lamp, produced by Raak Amsterdam around 1970, representative of Dutch Space Age design. The piece consists of a large opal-colored globe resting on a lightweight chrome-plated metal frame that traces an orbit around the sphere, reinforcing the planetary allusion in its name.

The extreme simplicity of the design stands out: a luminous sphere, a metallic line, and an almost weightless base. The result is a lamp with a strong sculptural presence, capable of functioning both as ambient lighting and as a standalone decorative object.

The opal diffuser emits a warm, enveloping light, while the chrome structure introduces a technical and futuristic touch very characteristic of 1970s design.

Founded in 1954 by Carel O. Lockhorn, a former Philips employee, Raak Amsterdam specialized in modern lamps and “light architecture” solutions. During the 1960s and 1970s, Raak achieved widespread international recognition and collaborated with designers such as Maija Liisa Komulainen, Sergio Asti, Giotto Stoppino, Tapio Wirkkala, and Frank Ligtelijn.
