This corner bookshelf reflects Jordi Vilanova’s interest in functional, understated furniture suited to the domestic scale. Its open structure, designed to make the most of a room’s corner, combines visual lightness with an architectural presence through a succession of vertical posts and faceted shelves.
The walnut wood lends warmth and depth to the piece, while the staggered arrangement of the shelves facilitates both decorative and practical use, suitable for books as well as small objects. The piece is part of Catalan design from the 1960s, a time when modern furniture sought rational, versatile solutions adapted to new ways of living.
Jordi Vilanova i Bosch was a designer, interior designer, and cabinetmaker associated with the renewal of postwar Catalan furniture. His work is characterized by formal simplicity, meticulous craftsmanship, and a sensitivity to the art of woodworking. In addition to his work as a furniture designer, he made significant contributions to interior design and the promotion of modern design in Catalonia.
