Pair of brass wall sconces made in the second half of the 20th century, in the style of Maison Jansen, a Parisian firm that played a fundamental role in the reinterpretation of decorative classicism within modern interior design. The pieces feature a symmetrical, sculptural composition, structured around metallic elements shaped like leaves or petals, arranged radially around a central light source.
The design clearly reflects the aesthetic language associated with Maison Jansen, characterized by the combination of neoclassical references with a decorative sensibility typical of the Hollywood Regency style. The use of gilded brass, the stylization of plant motifs, and the arrangement in solar or floral compositions evoke the sumptuous interiors created by the firm, in which 18th-century French tradition coexisted with a contemporary interpretation of luxury.
In this context, the wall sconces embody an aesthetic of “modern classicism” that reinterprets historical motifs—such as acanthus leaves, palm fronds, and floral forms—through an abstract and luminous treatment. The result is a piece that straddles the line between the decorative and the architectural, where light is integrated as an essential part of the ornamental composition.
