DESCRIPTION
ENEA COBIANCHI (Italy, active in the 1970s) for Insa Italy.
Pair of armchairs, c. 1970.
Wood and dyed leather.
Measurements: 65 x 90 x 100 cm (x2).
Designed by E. Cobianchi for the Italian firm Insa around 1970, these cognac-colored leather armchairs embody the style that characterized Italian design: generous proportions, enveloping lines, and a strong emphasis on comfort. Their soft, generous forms, devoid of any superfluous ornamentation, reflect a philosophy of furniture design in which ergonomics and the quality of materials become the primary means of expression.
Enea Cobianchi was an Italian designer active during the 1970s, known for his collaboration with the firm Insa, for which he developed various models of upholstered seating. Although his career remains poorly documented and there is very little biographical information about his education or professional activity, the pieces attributed to him reveal a clear affiliation with 1970s Italian design. His sofas and armchairs are characterized by generous proportions, rounded lines, and a marked emphasis on comfort, combining simple structures with high-quality leather upholstery and carefully executed construction details. Today, his work has sparked growing interest among collectors of vintage design, serving as a prime example of formal and material experimentation.
