An iconic piece of 1970s Italian design, the legendary “Toledo” table lamp was designed by architect Luigi Massoni in 1973 and produced by Harveilluce, the historic firm founded by the Guzzini brothers. Its large mushroom-shaped shade and slender tulip-style base make it a true sculptural light fixture that perfectly embodies the Space Age and Mid-Century Modern aesthetics.
Luigi Massoni was one of the great Italian designers and architects of the 20th century. He began his career in the 1950s designing for Alessi, where he created the famous Serie 5, which is still in production. He later championed Italian design as a co-founder of the magazine *Il Mobile Italiano* and of *Mobilia*, one of Italy’s first design promotion centers. As a designer and artistic director, he collaborated with leading firms such as Boffi and iGuzzini, for which he developed numerous products and defined its corporate identity. His creations, characterized by innovation and functionality, are landmarks of postwar Italian design and are part of the permanent collections of prestigious museums such as MoMA in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
