DESCRIPTION
PHILIPPE STARCK-style dining table (Paris, 1949), 1980s.
Polished granite and black-lacquered metal.
In excellent condition, 10/10.
Measurements: 75 cm high x 120 cm in diameter.
This table embodies the geometric minimalism that characterized a significant portion of European design in the 1980s, linked to the postmodern revival and the functional design language developed by Philippe Starck during this period. The composition is reduced to three basic forms: the circular granite tabletop, the truncated cone-shaped central support, and the disc-shaped metal base.
The hallmarks of the stone surface—with its expressive natural texture—and the understated black metal lend the piece an architectural and balanced presence. The central leg frees up the perimeter of the tabletop, making it ideal for use as a dining table, while the clarity of the construction ensures a timeless aesthetic.
