The piece fully embodies the boho-luxe aesthetic characteristic of the 1970s, where craftsmanship and sophistication coexist in harmony. Gabriella Crespi (1922–2017) was an Italian architect and designer trained at the Polytechnic University of Milan, where she was influenced by figures such as Le Corbusier and Frank Lloyd Wright. She began her career with the “Small Lune Collection,” a series of abstract metal sculptures, and later collaborated with Maison Dior in the 1960s. She gained international recognition with the “Plurimi” series, launched in 1970, which consisted of transformable and “metamorphic” furniture pieces such as Magic Cube and Scultura—iconic examples of the experimental Italian design of the era. At the same time, he worked with artisanal techniques such as lost-wax casting, creating bronze sculptures and pieces inspired by the natural world, as well as developing bamboo collections like “Rising Sun,” which highlighted his interest in the combination of the material’s strength and flexibility.
