Articulated table lamp made around the 1970s. A representative example of the functional and industrial design that characterized domestic and work lighting during the 1970s. Its articulated metal structure, featuring an adjustable arm and an orientable shade, reflects a design philosophy in which ergonomics and lighting efficiency determine the form. The purity of its lines, devoid of any superfluous elements, and the successful balance between structural lightness and constructive solidity give it a highly contemporary aesthetic. Beyond its functionality, the piece stands out for its striking graphic character, becoming an icon of technical design from the second half of the 20th century and a versatile addition to modern or industrial-inspired interiors.
The name LUPELA comes from the initials of LUis PErez LAnzas, the brand’s founder. The company was closely linked to the Pérez de la Oliva family, one of the most important in the history of Spanish lighting design. Its history is closely tied to FASE, the renowned lighting firm. Following the split among FASE’s partners, Fernando Pérez de la Oliva registered the LUPELA brand and continued to develop his own line of lighting fixtures. The company produced several models originally designed by José Luis Gugel Sancha, including the famous Cobra, Cisne, and Reina, as well as models 225 and 226, which are highly sought after today in the collectors’ market.
