Glazed and decorated porcelain.

The pair of bookends takes the form of a phrenological bust divided into two halves, reinterpreted through a folk-inspired design. The surface combines motifs associated with traditional tattoos—roses, swallows, ships, hearts, and mottos—with graphic references typical of early phrenology diagrams, creating hallmarks of a pseudoscientific appearance and urban iconography.
The glazed finish and the application of motifs in black, red, yellow, and blue reinforce its graphic and decorative character. The division of the bust into two separate parts allows for the integration of function and design in a piece with a sculptural presence, conceived as both a utilitarian object and an ornamental element.
