Rosa Amorós Bernadó is an outstanding Spanish sculptor, ceramist and painter. She studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona and at the Massana School, where she also taught between 1971 and 2005. Her career took off in the 1960s, gaining visibility with her participation in the Joan Miró Prize. From 1976, the René Metras Gallery promoted his work, leading to fifteen years of continuous exhibitions in Barcelona. In the late 80's and early 90's, his work evolved significantly after workshops with Anthony Caro and residencies in Hungary and the Netherlands. His works have been exhibited in major institutions around the world, including Arts Santa Mònica (Barcelona), Fundación "la Caixa" (Madrid), the National Tile Museum (Lisbon) and the Nakatomi Museum of Contemporary Art (Japan). Numerous public and private collections, such as those of MACBA and the Vila Casas Foundation, own pieces by Amorós.
Amorós' work explores fundamental questions of human existence, mythology and the relationship with otherness. He mainly uses clay in his sculptures, emphasizing austere and unadorned matter. In 2015, the exhibition "Despojos y dèries" at the Fundació Suñol in Barcelona offered a synthesis of her introspective and personal character, showing how the artist addresses the great questions of humanity through her own experience and obsessions.
