BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
AMADEO GABINO (Valencia, 1922 - Madrid, 2004).
"Horse".
Conglomerate wood and metal plate.
Measurements: 118 x 80 x 30 cm.
This horse torso, created by Amadeo Gabino, is a sculptural piece of great formal and symbolic power, which masterfully combines the sculptural tradition with the constructivist language of the twentieth century. Executed in conglomerate wood and sheet metal, materials that Gabino worked with rigor and sensitivity, the horse (archetypal animal of strength, nobility and movement) is transformed here into an essentialized and segmented presence, where the planes dialogue with geometric precision.
A renowned sculptor and graphic artist of constructivist language, Amadeo Gabino began his training in Valencia, and later expanded his knowledge in Rome, Milan, Paris, Hamburg and New York. He represented Spain at the Venice Biennials of 1956 and 1966, as well as at the Alexandria Biennial of 1954, the Salzburg Christian Art Biennial of 1956 and the New York World's Fair of 1964. In addition to participating in national and international exhibitions, and contributed to the installation and design of pavilions for events such as the X Milan Triennial in 1954 and Expo 58 in Brussels in 1958. He is represented at the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid, the Cabinet de Estampes in Geneva, the Kunsthalle in Hamburg, the Brooklyn Museum in New York, the Fundación Juan March and the Museo de Bellas Artes in Bilbao, among others.
