DESCRIPTION

CARLOS ALBERT (Madrid, 1978).
Untitled, 2014.
Bronze.
Signed and dated.
Measurements: 13 x 21 x 15 cm.

In this work made in bronze the author presents us with a light sculptural conception, apparently moldable, open to space, which harmonizes with the material thus achieving an aerial result. Moving away from concepts or ideas, where perceptions are prisoners of the changeable, the artist flees from any anecdotal element, leaving only the material and the space that surrounds it.

The sculptor Carlos Albert was trained at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid, and furthered his studies with a workshop in forge sculpture taught by Martin Chirino at the Marcelo Botin Foundation in Santander, a course at the London Institute Camberwell University and another of the Sculpture Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Madrid held in Ayllon (Segovia), to finally obtain the Diploma of Advanced Studies by the same faculty in 2003. He made his debut in the late nineties, and since then Albert has held solo exhibitions and participated in group shows both in Spain and in the UK and Luxembourg, in art galleries and museums. He has also participated in the Red de Arte Joven and in the Art Madrid and Fiart fairs. He has also received scholarships from the Complutense University of Madrid, the Ministry of Culture of Luxembourg, the Department of Sculpture of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Madrid and the Elsa Peretti Foundation of Girona. Throughout his career he has taken part in artistic contests and competitions, being distinguished with numerous awards, including several National First Prizes: University of Seville (2002), Fernando Quiñones (2003) and City of Melilla (2008 and 2010). He has also carried out several official commissions. Carlos Albert works with steel and wrought iron, and also makes drawings and reliefs. In July 2012 the BAT gallery in Madrid presented the book "Carlos Albert, sculptor", dedicated to his work, with texts by Fernando Fernán-Gómez, Mª Aurora Vigil-Escalera and Tomás Paredes, president of the Spanish Association of Art Critics. He is currently represented in the Caixanova Collection, the Universities of Seville and Complutense de Madrid, the FRIDE Foundation, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Ayllón and the City Councils of Palencia, Majadahonda, Melilla, Madrid, Parla, Santander, San Fernando, Móstoles, Cangas de Morrazo, Soria, Atarfe, San Fernando de Henares, Málaga, Cádiz, Lora del Río and Punta Umbría, as well as in various private collections.
