DESCRIPTION

JOSEP GINESTAR (Alicante, 1957).
Untitled.
Iron.
Measurements: 186 x 28 x 17 cm.
Josep Ginestar has developed a solid academic career. He began his training at the Escola d'Arts Aplicades i Oficis Artístics de València (1978-1979), and shortly after moved to Paris, where he obtained a diploma in Fine Arts from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in 1983. In 1987 he completed his degree in Arts Plastiques at the Université Paris VIII. This Parisian stage was decisive for his aesthetic maturation.
Back in Spain, in 1997 he homologated his degrees at the Universitat Politècnica de València, institution where he would later study for a doctorate in Fine Arts, obtaining his doctorate in 2004. That same year he participated as a teacher in the Curs Experimental de Plàstica A. Vives, initiating a stage of strong pedagogical and cultural involvement. Between 2005 and 2017, he was the creator and organizer of the Art al Vent project, a leading platform for the dissemination of contemporary art in the public and community sphere.
Since his first exhibitions in France and Spain in the late 1980s, his work has been presented in cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, Rabat, Casablanca, Aachen, Havana, and Brussels, as well as in various towns in the País Valencià. His work is part of important public and private collections, among them the Museu de la Universitat d'Alacant, the City Council of Modena (Italy), the Museo de Bellas Artes de Castelló, the Centre Eusebi Sempere (Diputació d'Alacant), the Argentaria collection, and several city councils of the Valencian territory. An artist deeply linked to his environment, his production combines a reflection on cultural identity with a universal sensitivity that transcends geographies and disciplines.
