This piece by Gemma Barbany Arimany is part of the "Mussaranyes" collection, in which the artist explores childhood in its most spiritual dimension. "La espera" represents a girl of about 10 years old relaxed, absorbed in her world. Modeled entirely by hand, the work undergoes a meticulous casting process that allows the original to be fired without the use of molds. During the firing, due to the trace left by the hands in the clay, darkened areas appear organically, the result of the spontaneous combustion of the clay; unique and unrepeatable marks that constitute the imprint of the fire and give each sculpture a singular and imperfect beauty.

Gemma Barbany Arimany studied Art and Design at the Escola Massana in Barcelona. She later expanded her training in sculpture, learning with renowned sculptors such as Toshie Itabashi, Manuela Ribeiro and Eudald de Juana. He has also received training at the Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc and the Barcelona Academy of Arts.
His clay sculptures usually represent human figures in a meditative state or abstraction, unique pieces made without mold, small format, in which he experiments with clay, its different firings and finishes.
