The figure emerges as a suspended, almost incorporeal presence, defined by the movement of a folded surface that conceals the face and blurs the anatomy. The folds spiral around the body, simultaneously suggesting tension, fragility, and ascent, while the narrow connection to the base accentuates its apparent weightlessness.
The title refers to Nike, the Greek goddess of victory, and evokes the classical tradition of figures wrapped in cloths billowing in the wind. Campagnoli, however, transforms this heroic reference into a vulnerable and anonymous image: the body is protected and, at the same time, imprisoned by a covering that retains its imprint. The sculpture thus embodies the concept the artist calls “plaster armor,” understood as a second skin capable of recording the model’s physical and emotional presence. The figure’s stillness coexists with the dynamism of the folds, creating a tension between permanence and transformation.
Pietro Campagnoli lives and works in Turin and studied New Technologies in Art at the Accademia Albertina. His sculptural research explores the fragility of the body, identity, and the memory of human presence. Notable among his recent exhibitions are *About a Boy* at the Università della Svizzera italiana in Lugano and *Metaquadreria* at the Italian Cultural Institute in New York, both in 2024; *Corpi Custoditi* in Turin and the exhibition-performance *Per Astra ad Aspera* at the Forte di Bard Museum in 2025. In 2026, she participated in *Fissures of Light: Diaspora: Dissonances in Fa Minor*, an official collateral event of the 61st Venice Biennale, held at the Palazzo Donà dalle Rose.
