DESCRIPTION
"KIEFF" ANTONIO GREDIAGA (Madrid, 1936).
"The three Graces", 1971.
Padauk wood. Unique piece.
Signed.
Measurements: 47 x17 x 18 cm.
In Las tres Gracias, Kieff Antonio Grediaga proposes a contemporary reinterpretation of a classical motif, shifting it towards a sculptural language that oscillates between abstraction and figuration. Carved in wood, the work articulates three interrelated forms that suggest bodily presence without resorting to a literal representation, inviting a reading that is more sensorial than narrative.
Kieff Antonio Grediaga's career originates in cabinetmaking, a discipline he practiced since his early days with his father in the restoration of religious furniture, forging an early relationship with matter and structure. In 1968 he held his first solo exhibition at the Moos Gallery in Montreal, where the sale of all his works was a turning point in his international projection.
Since then, his work has been present in galleries and fairs of reference in Canada, the United States, Japan, Taiwan, Israel and Europe. In 2022 he presented in Cadiz El Canto del Hierro, an exhibition inspired by Manuel de Falla's Siete canciones populares españolas. In the field of public space, the installation of The Turning Point in Columbus Circle, New York, in 1980, stands out.
His production, which ranges from small-format bronzes to monumental sculptures in iron, wood or marble, is part of important international institutional collections. Currently, the Kieff Antonio Grediaga Foundation, with headquarters and museum under construction in Tendilla (Guadalajara), promotes the conservation, study and transmission of his work to future generations.
