DESCRIPTION
Karl Thylmann (1888-1916)
"Fauna musician"
Patinated bronze
Signed
Measurements: 67 cm (height)
Sculpture in patinated bronze representing a faun musician in full movement, inspired by classical mythology. The figure, typically associated to the companions of Dioniso and Pan in the Greco-Roman imaginary, is represented dancing on only one foot, supported on a base that presents vegetal motifs and symbolic elements such as bunches of grapes and a thyrsos. The faun is dressed in a simple loincloth and a crown of vine leaves, characteristic attributes of the character.
