Sculpture in patinated bronze representing a peasant woman in full labor, in movement while holding a voluminous bundle on her head and carrying a basket under her arm. Dressed in rural clothing, her figure is modeled with a marked realism, conveying a sense of strength and dignity. Dating from the second half of the 19th century, this work by Alfred Pierre Richard is part of an artistic tradition that dignifies the rural world and elevates the figure of the rural worker to a symbol of effort and perseverance.
