Jesús Castelló Mollar was a Valencian sculptor recognized for his work in stone and, especially, in Carrara marble. From a young age he showed a strong artistic vocation and developed a work marked by technical rigor, respect for the sculptural tradition and a constant formal research. His career was awarded the Senyera Prize in 1983 and he left a remarkable mark on the Valencian public space through sculptures and heritage restorations, such as those of the Aragon Bridge or the San Jorge complex in Alcoy. He died in 2010, when he was still in full creative activity, leaving a solid legacy in contemporary Valencian sculpture.
