BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

TERÁN (Chile, 1974).
"Picasso In Love", 2025.
Steel and resin.
Signed on the sole of the figure of Picasso.
Measurements: 86 x 80.5 x 25 cm.

In this piece, Terán pays homage simultaneously to Robert Indiana and Pablo Picasso, fusing two profoundly different but equally decisive visual universes in the history of modern art. The monumental structure reproduces the famous LOVE typographic composition created by Indiana in 1964, which has become one of the most reproduced emblems of pop art. At the same time, with a disruptive gesture, Terán intervenes this icon by incorporating the three-dimensional figure of Picasso, characterized by his unmistakable attire - striped T-shirt and hat - sitting relaxedly inside the letter.

The contrast between the typographic purity of the word and the relaxed attitude of the artist introduces a narrative and human dimension that transforms the symbol into a scene.

The scale gives it a forceful sculptural presence, suitable for private collections as well as for institutional or corporate spaces.

Within the series "Tribute to the Geniuses", Terán explores the collective cultural memory through figures that have redefined modern creativity.

A Chilean artist living in Spain, Manuel Terán, a graduate in Fine Arts, has developed his career in the field of plastic arts and new technologies applied to art. Since his appearance in 1995 at the Salón de Otoño del Círculo de Bellas Artes in Santiago de Chile, he has had solo exhibitions and participated in group shows and fairs in Latin America and Europe. His work has been recognized with several awards, among them the one granted by the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Carlos de Valencia in 2004.
