DESCRIPTION
MIROSLAV PANGRÁC (Rakovnic, 1924-2012).
"Young man with volín".
Bronze.
Signed.
Measurements: 68 cm (height).
Pangrác is known for his ability to humanize bronze. The figure is extremely slender. The position of the feet together and the lined-up body create a sense of stagnation, as if the young man is in a moment of reflective pause before or after playing. The raised right hand, almost in a gesture of listening or marking a silent beat, adds a layer of narrative to the work. It is not just a portrait, it is a representation of the spiritual link to the music. The expression is introspective, characteristic of Pangrác's work, who tended to avoid excessive drama in favor of an austere peace.
Born in Rakovník (present-day Czech Republic), Pangrác lived through the most convulsive political and artistic changes in Central Europe. His works often focus on themes of childhood, youth and music, often installed in public spaces in Prague and other Czech cities. He was a prolific artist who received numerous national awards. His style remained true to the human figure in a century when many others turned to total abstraction.
