DESCRIPTION
GOTTFRED EICKHOFF (Denmark, 1902-1982).
Female study.
Plaster.
In good general condition according to the antiquity.
Measurements: 53 x 28 x 30 cm.
Delicate sculpture representing a female nude in an introspective attitude, leaning on a stool, in a composition of great balance and naturalness. The gentle inclination of the figure and the self-absorbed gesture convey a sense of calm and seclusion, in an intimate scene of great sensitivity.
The modeling, of simplified volumes and vibrant surface, retains the direct imprint of the artist's hand, underlining its studio character and providing a special material richness. This approach connects with the modern sculpture of the 20th century, where the expressiveness of the material acquires a leading role.
Gottfred Eickhoff was a leading figure of modern Danish sculpture, focused on the representation of the human figure from an elegant and contained formal synthesis. His work is present in important institutions such as the Statens Museum for Kunst and the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen, as well as in various European collections, consolidating his relevance within the international art scene of his time.
