Female figure conceived from a clear will of volumetric synthesis, where Luisa Granero reduces the body to essential forms loaded with weight and presence. The posture, slightly inclined and with arms folded, conveys a sense of restrained repose that gives the work its title.

The modeling, deliberately rough, preserves the trace of the process, moving away from any polished finish to emphasize the tactile dimension of the sculpture. This texture activates the light on the bronze, generating nuances that reinforce the corporeality of the figure.

The piece dialogues with the Mediterranean tradition, but reinterpreted from a contemporary sensibility that privileges mass, balance and physical presence.

Luisa Granero was an outstanding Spanish sculptor. Trained at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de Sant Jordi, she furthered her training in Paris, where she came into contact with the work of Maillol, Despiau and Zadkine, decisive influences in her evolution.

She was the first woman professor of sculpture in Spain and a doctor of the University of Barcelona (1983), as well as an academic of the Royal Academies of San Fernando, Santa Isabel of Hungary and Sant Jordi, and a member of the National Sculpture Society of New York since 1973. Her public work includes outstanding pieces such as the reliefs of the Faculty of Law of the University of Barcelona and the monument to Pau Casals, as well as sculptures in Barcelona, Zaragoza and Palma de Mallorca.
