BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

MANUEL MARÍN (Cieza, Murcia, 1942 - Alhaurín de la Torre, Málaga, 2007).
Mobile sculpture.
Polychrome iron.
Unique piece.
Signed.
Measurements: 73 x 75 x 36 cm.

This mobile sculpture by Manuel Marín is inscribed in the kinetic line that defines the most recognizable core of his production. The work is articulated by means of a polychrome iron structure in which rods, discs and suspended planes generate a delicate balance between form, color and movement. The composition combines a black base of organic profiles with circular elements in red, blue and yellow, creating a visual game of great dynamism.

Manuel Marín was one of the most representative Spanish sculptors in the field of mobile sculpture. After an initial period linked to the world of bullfighting, he moved to London, where he worked as an assistant to Henry Moore, and later to New York, where he opened his own gallery and came into contact with the international art scene. His work shows the influence of Alexander Calder and Joan Miró, especially in the use of color, balance and movement.

His sculptures have been exhibited in public spaces and collections in Europe, America and Asia, with monumental examples in places such as Alhaurín de la Torre, Málaga Airport and the surroundings of the Deutsche Welle building. His work is also part of the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection and the Regional Museum of Modern Art in Cartagena, and has been the subject of a monographic exhibition at the Ramón Gaya Museum in Murcia.
