The figure conveys a strong sense of drama, with arms raised diagonally, the torso slumped, the head bowed, and the legs crossed—features that hark back to the Baroque tradition of the suffering Crucified Christ. The anatomical rendering, with taut musculature and a vibrant surface, emphasizes the physical dimension of the martyrdom. The cloth of purity, gathered at the side and rendered with deep folds, adds dynamism to the composition and reinforces the twisting of the body.
