BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

20th-century kinetic sculpture.
Untitled.
Cut, assembled, and painted iron.
Iron base.
Exhibits wear consistent with age and use, scuffs, and isolated areas where the polychrome has worn away.
Measurements: 190 x 70 x 180 cm.

Large-scale kinetic sculpture made of cut and painted iron, featuring a structure articulated by rods, suspended planes, and counterweight elements. The piece combines a sculptural base with a strong vertical presence, featuring curved and sharp profiles, with an aerial composition where the colored geometric shapes—red, yellow, blue, green, and black—introduce a distinct sense of rhythm.

The work falls within the realm of 20th-century kinetic sculpture and geometric abstraction, where balance, visual movement, and the relationship to space play a central role. Unlike sculpture conceived as a closed volume, this piece expands into the air and creates an open composition that changes depending on the viewer’s perspective and the angle of the light.

The contrast between the solidity of the iron and the apparent lightness of the suspended elements constitutes one of its principal artistic qualities. The large black upper form acts as a visual counterpoint, while the small polychrome planes add tension, color, and movement. The base, with its organic and almost totemic profile, supports the entire structure without losing its own expressiveness.

Due to its scale, spatial presence, and abstract language, this is a piece of remarkable sculptural and decorative impact, particularly well-suited for spacious areas where its airy, dynamic, and enveloping quality can be fully appreciated.
