BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

Kinetic sculpture; 20th century.
Painted iron and steel wire.
Shows signs of rust and slight chipping of the paint.
Measurements: 85.5 x 110 x 22 cm.
Constructed from a delicate structure of iron and painted steel wire, the composition is organized around a system of articulated arms and counterweights that allow its various elements to move independently, creating a dynamic equilibrium in constant transformation. The piece does not have a single or definitive configuration; on the contrary, every slight breeze alters the relationship between the forms, making change an essential component of the aesthetic experience.
From a historical perspective, this type of sculpture represents a departure from the traditional conception of sculpture as a static, self-contained object. Movement, chance, and interaction with the environment become part of the visual language, establishing a continuous dialogue between the work, the space, and the viewer. The formal economy, the limited color palette, and the balance between abstraction and the evocation of natural forms place this piece within one of the most influential movements in modern sculpture, in which research into space, kinetics, and perception profoundly redefined the boundaries of the sculptural medium.
