DESCRIPTION
“KIEFF” ANTONIO GREDIAGA (Madrid, 1936).
Untitled, 1980.
Patinated bronze on a marble base. One-of-a-kind piece.
Signed and dated.
Measurements: 41 x 17 x 17 cm; 10 x 10 x 10 cm (base).
Created at a time when organic abstraction played a prominent role in the renewal of contemporary sculpture, the piece reflects the artist’s search for a unique artistic language and a singularity distinct from figurative art. Grediaga achieves a balance between curved forms and geometric planes, creating a dynamic structure in which the bronze seems to lose its weight, transforming into a succession of fluid lines and open spaces, where the tension between volume and void plays a central role.
Kieff Antonio Grediaga began his artistic training in cabinetmaking, working alongside his father on the restoration of religious furniture. His first exhibition took place in 1968 at the Moos Gallery in Montreal, where the entire collection was acquired—a development that solidified his international reputation. Since then, he has exhibited his work in galleries and art fairs in Canada, the United States, Japan, Taiwan, and Israel. Kieff’s work is part of institutional collections such as the National Museum of Fine Arts (Havana, Cuba), the Emilio Bacardí Moreau Museum (Santiago de Cuba), and the Museum of the City (Madrid, Spain).
