"Balloon Dog" is part of the "Celebration" series, which began in 1994 and continued through 2000. This sculptural series depicts everyday figures that appear to have been made from balloons, such as dogs, hearts, flowers, etc. According to Koons, through this series he sought to reflect the joy of celebrating a party, so he inflated balloons until he found the perfect shape.
Jeff Koons is a key figure in contemporary art, recognized for his kitsch aesthetic, polished surfaces, and large-scale sculptures. Since the 1980s, he has developed a body of work linked to mass culture and consumerism. His work is included in collections such as those of MoMA, the Tate, the Guggenheim, the Whitney Museum, and the Centre Pompidou.
