The sculptor Alfonso Pérez Plaza began his training at age twelve at the School of Arts and Crafts in Valencia, and later enrolled at the San Carlos School of Fine Arts (1953), where he earned the title of Professor of Drawing in 1957 and received his bachelor’s degree in 1981. He later earned a Ph.D. in Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (1989). He also furthered his studies for six years in Stuttgart, Germany, and subsequently in Paris and Rome. Since his solo debut in 1967, Pérez Plaza has held solo exhibitions in various cities in Spain and Mexico, as well as in Bopfingen (Germany) and New York. He has also participated in prominent group exhibitions held in various European countries and the United States. Between 1990 and 2007, he taught at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the UPV. His work is currently represented in the Villafamés Museum, the Municipal Historical Museum and the City Museum of Valencia, the Ibiza Museum, the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid, and other public and private collections in Spain, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, and the United States.
