Ramon Pons Casadevall is also a fashion designer. He completed a specialized course in human figure modeling at the Massana School in Barcelona with Mònica Chavarria and Lúa Coderch (2009), a course in human figure sculpture at the Bisbal School of Ceramics (with Samuel Salcedo, 2010), a course in life-size human figure sculpture (with Jorge Egea, 2012), a course in portraiture and clay modeling (with Toshie Itabashi, 2012), and a course in sculptural portraiture (with Egea, 2013). She has participated in the 32nd Grand Prix d’Arts Plastiques Le Fousseret (France, 2014) and group exhibitions at the Cercle Artístic Sant Lluc (2012–2013–2014); produced the photo catalog for the MINKY brand (2012) and the photography exhibition “Vivint en el sostre del món” (Barcelona, 2011) and (Torelló, 2010). As public art, he has created the Monument to Blood Donors in Sant Vicenç de Torelló (Barcelona, 2011) and the Fire Pit dedicated to the Flame of Canigó in Sant Vicenç de Torelló (Barcelona, 2009). In his sculptures, there is often a certain clash between the classically inspired subject matter and the irreverent touch that characterizes his approach. This veiled irony is the hallmark with which he puts his own spin on allegorical figures such as the Thinker, mythological characters such as the satyr, and historical figures such as Marie Antoinette… transgressing and even inverting the archetypal image of these references. The artist explains that he chooses “clay as an expressive medium because I am drawn to its physical characteristics; it forces me to maintain an intimate relationship with the material as I shape it with my own hands, while the care required to preserve it during the creative process fosters a very personal connection with each work.”
