The piece responds to Bvlgari's taste for cabochon colored gems, yellow gold of marked presence and compositions of strong chromatic contrast. The combination of cat's eye sapphires -one in blue and one in yellow- with diamonds and geometric structure in gold places these earrings within the bold and volumetric aesthetic developed by the firm especially in the second half of the twentieth century.
Bvlgari, founded in Rome in 1884 by Sotirio Bulgari, is one of the great international jewelry houses. Its language is distinguished by the expressive use of yellow gold, cabochon colored gems and compositions of marked formal presence, features that consolidated an Italian aesthetic of its own against the French jewelry tradition. His creations, associated with volume, chromatic contrasts and a strong Mediterranean inspiration, have made the firm an essential reference for collectors of high jewelry of the twentieth century.
