BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

Art Nouveau brooch in the shape of a dragonfly. Late 19th century.
Brooch crafted in silver and 14k yellow gold, featuring a naturalistic design in the shape of a dragonfly—one of the most characteristic motifs of Art Nouveau jewelry. The wings are set with rose-cut diamonds. The body is adorned with a series of cabochon-cut sapphires in descending order of size, while two rubies highlight the eyes.
Total weight: 7.20 g.
Measurements: 2.4 x 4.2 cm

The dragonfly was one of Art Nouveau’s favorite emblems due to the lightness of its forms and its close connection to the natural world. Symbolically, it is often associated with transformation, renewal, and freedom.
