DESCRIPTION
MARIO BUCCELLATI. Vine-leaf necklace, Italy, 20th century.
In 18-karat yellow gold.
Signed “M. BUCCELLATI,” “ITALY,” and hallmarked “750.”
Weight: 34.90 g.
Comes with a case signed “BUCCELLATI NEW YORK.”
Measurements: 40.5 x 2.1 cm
Articulated necklace composed of a series of vine leaves in yellow gold, individually linked by small links. Each leaf features a deeply lobed outline, incised veins, and a delicately satin-finished surface, whose treatment reproduces the texture of the plant with remarkable naturalism.
The independent articulation of the elements provides flexibility to the piece as a whole and allows the leaves to adapt to the contour of the neck, creating an attractive interplay of movement, light, and volume. Box clasp with an additional security system.
The piece embodies one of Buccellati’s most recognizable design languages: the transformation of forms drawn from nature into small gold sculptures.
Buccellati is one of the leading names in Italian fine jewelry. Founded by Mario Buccellati in Milan in 1919, the maison has, over more than a century, established a distinctive identity rooted in the continuity of craftsmanship, the hand-working of gold, and the revival of historical engraving and goldsmithing techniques. Its international expansion and the consistency of its creative vision have reinforced the brand’s prestige and strength; its pieces are distinguished by exceptionally meticulous craftsmanship and an unmistakable style. This legacy lends vintage jewelry bearing the Mario Buccellati signature added value in terms of provenance, recognition, and collectibility.
