Jerónimo Castillo de Bovadilla was a renowned jurist of the sixteenth century trained at the University of Salamanca. Throughout his career he worked as corregidor of Soria and Guadalajara as well as a lawyer in the Courts of Castile and prosecutor of the Chancery of Valladolid. This written work was the only one known of Castillo. In 1595, at the end of his life, he requested the necessary permission from the courts of Castile for its publication, which was in Latin. This compendium of recommendations was of great help since in many cases Castillo used examples based on his own experience.
