"Water on Earth" is the title of a book by Silvino Thós Codina, who was a Spanish scientist and naturalist. In this book, Thós Codina explores the origin, regime and action of water in the earth's crust, a work that was presented to the Royal Academy of Natural Sciences and Arts of Barcelona in 1878.

Théophile Moreux, author of two of the six books we are bidding for, was a French astronomer and meteorologist. He founded the Bourges Observatory in 1899 at the St. Célestin de Bourges seminary, where he was professor of science and mathematics in 1889. In 1893 he joined the Société astronomique de France (SAF) and three years later, he met the astronomer Camille Flammarion with whom he would maintain a good relationship. In 1907 he built his own observatory in Bourges. Moreux made several observations of the planet Mars and the Moon. He also published star catalogs and investigated the possibility of life on other planets, however, he was critical of Percival Lowell's theory regarding the possible existence of intelligent life on Mars. In 1922 he published a review of astronomical and technical theories under the title La Revue du Ciel. In 1973 the International Astronomical Union approved the naming of a crater on the planet Mars, known as Moreux, after him.
