Account of the battle of Marengo, won on the 25th pradial of the year 8, by Napoleon Bonaparte, First Consul, commander in person of the French reserve army, over the Austrians, under Lieutenant-General Mélas; written by General Alex. Berthier, commander under the immediate orders of the First Consul.
Louis Alexandre Berthier, Prince of Neuchâtel, Marshal of France, Vice-Constable of France since 1808 and Chief of Staff of the Army of France, was born at Versailles and was a personal friend of Napoleon.
The Imperial Printing Press, or Imperial Foundry, was a printing press and type foundry established by Napoleon Bonaparte in France. It was directed by Firmin Didot, an authority on typography, and was responsible for producing typefaces for the press and official publications of the empire.
